Pronounce Rabl

Any of you historians happen to know how to pronounce Sam Rabl's name? Is it a long "a" as if "Rayble" or a short "a" as in "Rabble".

personally, I think you can pronounce it any way you choose provided you can tell me where to find some more of his boat designs. FWIW I say "rabble".
