From me handy dandy Concise Oxford...
Siren, noun, device for making a loud noise...
( in Greek Mythology ) each of a number of women or winged creatures whose singing lured unwary sailor on to rocks.
A sweet singer
A dangerously fascinating women, a temptress ( oh its getting juicy here :))
A tempting pursuit
Irresistibly tempting
An eel shaped tailed amphibian
gary porter

Sadly , some folks manage to hit the rocks and never experience the beautiful Sirens. :D
If you have seen the movie Oh Brother,,those beauties in the river were Sirens. I believe the author Ernest Gahn(sp) wrote a book called The Song of the Sirens as well.
