I came in late to A TV interview with a French man who has written a rather significant book on the Americas cup. I have no Authors name or Title but it must be relatively recent.
They showed some lines drawings ( it sounds like he has had some very high level cooperation) and talked about 2 significant occurrences while researching it.
The first was the discovery of a drawing for a J boat by Tore Holm, found amongst his estate in the 1990's.
The second was when he was allowed access to the NYYC archives and discovered an UNOPENED letter from John G Alden to the NYYC which turned out to have a J boat design for ( I think) 1930. I missed exactly when he discovered it.
This looks like one of those books you just have to have.

Any data out there in WB land.

Old man, right? The guy with the encyclopaedic knowledge of French men-o-war?

I'd pick him late 50's early 60's Rocky.
Actually ,a detail I remembered. he has a co writer, so there will be 2 names on the cover.

Well that certainly knocked out the must-have status!

thanks for the name though. I'll put it in my " when I win lottery" file.
Astonishing, that Alden thing, don't you think?

John;

Yes, I would love to have a look at the Alden design. Also the Holm lines, "alternative" ideas are always intriguing. To bad this book is not intended for mere mortals.

All the best, Tad.
