How many people, and when??

Meerkat

What about this weekend?

So far, we've got 3 people, plus wives and girlfriends if they show up. Can't think of anyone else left who's in town. Would be nice to entice Kermit down from Whidbey though.

Too many plans for the Memorial Day weekend for me. How about we give it some time to get RGM & Jamie too?

Something told me I needed to check in! Whazzup?

Recalling the toast: "Wives and sweethearts--may they never meet!"

With all the talk about wives, girlfriends, and of course, cancer. How about Friday the 13th????

Meerkat
06-04-2005, 04:10 AM
Terry, I think you looked at the wrong month. We just had the last Friday the 13th for this year!

How about the 10th or the 17th (of June)?

Terry Etapa

So, you passed my calendar reading test. Yeah, that's it, a calander reading test...

Your right, I looked at the wrong month. How about the 17th of June, 2005. Say we meet at the boat at 7:00 pm?

Bring something to cook on the BBQ, and any beverages you plan on drinking. I'll take the boat out, and do a loop around Lake Union, or maybe head out to Lake Washington.

I've got 11 PFD's on the boat. If your going to come, RSVP me at tetapa@earthlink.net . If I get more than 11 people interested, I'll need to have some of you bring your own PFD.

Terry

Ditto. Care to let us in on how to find you? I guess you could e-mail directions off-forum...

Hey Terry; Are you going to have plates, knives, forks and condiments this time? ;)

Terry Etapa
06-06-2005, 03:28 PM
I'll have a tub full of Costco's finest flatware, and dinner plates. I'll have a 96 quart cooler with ice to keep the drinks cold. There is a bbq, and microwave onboard. I can bring a protable propane cook stove if it's needed. There will even be left over bags of chips from previous bbq's. There is mustard, ketchup, saurkraut, and relish in the frig.

Anything else????

Meerkat

Are dancing girls too much to ask for? ;)

Well, I looked for you guys... Oh well. I did spend a pleasant few hours sailing this afternoon with the last good buddy who doesn't feel too akward with my current "situation" to hang out with with me for a bit. Hoped to introduce him to you all, I think he'd "fit in" with this odd collection of humanity, but... Oh, well. Next time!

Me ;)

After waiting until 7:45 for late arrivals, we had a brief and very pleasent cruise around Lake Union, followed by a "BYO" BBQ and lively chat. The very convivial procedings broke up around 10 PM.

The only ontoward event was when the boarding steps somehow caved in and fell into Lake Union, nearly taking me with them! Fortunately, my Berkinstalks and treasured "Duckworks" ball cap were recovered, but the (rubbermaid) boarding steps (actually kitchen steps) went down with all hands. I escaped with a wet foot, wet pant cuffs a splinter in my hand and a good scrape on my left hip.

I will sail again! ;)

Many thanks to Terry for hosting the evening! Indeed, a pleasant time. The first raindrops fell just as we were walking back up the float to the car.

And thanks to Meerkat for his demonstration of evasive techniques, showing how to lay down an effective smokescreen using only a kielbasa. Amazing.

Katie has one request: that the distaff element better represent itself in future. Surely woodenboatfolk are not ALL male.

Oiks! I forgot to thank Terry too! Thanks! A lot! smile.gif

Hip still sore... but I'll live!

I guess we got a good demo of just how much water Hillshire Farms puts into their sausages!

A BIG thanks to Terry!!!!

I had fun and enjoyed the conversation, company and acrobatics. It was real interesting to watch Terry and Bob talk about the boat and the work Terry is doing.

Definatly something to do more often.

It started to rain just as I hit I5.

Thanks again, Terry.

You are all very welcome. I was happy to host the event. Granted, it took Meer's suggesting to have it on my boat. He deserves a bit of thanks for picking the location.

We might just have to have an end of Summer PSEBS which RGM, and the others who missed out, can attend. How about after Port Townsend? Photos of the show will be required to get onboard...

So THAT'S why you rigged those boarding steps! ;)

As for the next event, I was going to suggest August, when the air is more likely to be warm - and on your boat again! September is generally cooler and more unsettled.

If it's after PT, I won't be able to come since I'm pretty sure, at least from this vantage, that I won't be able to afford to attend and therefore won't have the requisite pics.
