I am hunting for a Victory class sailboat from the 1917 era, 20 of the beauties built. We owned one of them # 14 on Long Island moored in Cold Spring Harbor,NY until the early 1970's when we sold it to a family who moored it there and over in Oyster Bay as well. We have lost touch and are trying to find the owner or the whereabouts of the boat...any help would be of assistance It used an English side mount motor(Seagull) and was usually dropped and pulled out seasonally out of Huntington Harbor NY Coney Marine had a track on it til the late 70's and that was it that I can find; My name is Nichols for records sake and the new owner at the time was Biornstad...thanks for the help...

I cannot help you with that particular Victory Classs boat. I kept a boat across the Sound in Rowayton, and a friend had another Victory.

I remember it quite well, a low freeboard, raised deck sloop about 30+ feet LOA, quite gracful. Ther were a total of 20 built in 1918 and 1919. This one had a rather large inboard gas engine installed a some time, which did not run when I knew it.

I belonged to John McNally (sp?). You might look for him in the membership of some of the yacht clubs across the Sound: Noroton, Norwalk, or Stamford. This si a long shot but it might lead somewhere.
