Not one to get on here and gush about my kids. But ...

Hit a deer (or rather it hit me) on my way to work this a.m. before first light.

Called my wife to relay that fact and make some tow/repair, etc. arrangements.

My 8 y.o son got the gist of what was going on.

Went upstairs and got $20 he'd been given as a Holiday gift by his grandmother at Thanksgiving, gave it to my wife and said something to the effect of "that repair is going to be expensive . . . Dad's going to need this."

Brought tears to my eyes. It appears we are doing something correctly as parents.

Now why does it not surprise me that your kid would do such a thing? ;)

Evan, good job. That boy is going to be a true leader someday because he realizes the plight of others and not just his own.

Good for him. Good for you. Sorry about the car/deer interface.

The best that you and your wife can give your children is the best of yourselves.

It looks like that's precisely what you've been doing.

Well done, Evan, and keep up the good work. :D
