In some ways they were real pioneers. I'm afraid there will never be another like that pair. :(

She was a great lady and had a wonderful life. When I went to visit them in the middle 80's I only had a few moments with her as she took advantage of my presence to go off shopping while I spent an hour or two talking with Irving and looking with him at their "museum" of their travels. When Irving died I wrote her and later received a beautiful note in return. I was pleased to see a fine obit for Electra in the Boston Globe this morning.

Thanks for letting us know. A couple of pips says I. Strong, good models of sailorfolk. Irving in his prime could chin himself on the forefingers of his hands. It's said he could grab ahold of a shroud and stand out from it by the strength in his arms.

But all that fades to memory. They fostered people, gave their best, loved well. May she, may they both, rest in peace.

I remember them well. A great loss but we were lucky to have them in our midst at least for a while

Everyone slips the mooring for that last long voyage. When my time comes, I hope to see her and Irving in the heart of the sea.
