Any of you in the SF Bay area: I received one report that TALOFA (73' LOD - 18' beam) had sold and was somewhere near Richardson's Bay. We sailed her to Tahiti and Hawaii in 1976 but she left our family in the early 80's and has had a varied career since. Steve and Kimberly Phillips worked long and hard on her restoration up until recent times, but I believe have had to sell her. Anyone seen her lately? If the new owner happens to be on the list, please feel free to get in touch in case we can help fill in any of the blanks for you.
The old girl will always have a special place in our hearts.

Thank you for the links. I'll check them out as IIRC, Steven Phillips has a 500 ton license and has, in times past, worked with the LADY WASHINGTON.

There was a brief mention of the new owner of Talofa in the May issue of Lat38 letters www.latitude38.com (http://www.latitude38.com)

"...Dave Gissandaner of Dave's Diving Service. Incidentally, Dave bought the schooner Talofa, a former Master Mariner boat that had been in Morro Bay for several years, from a Latitude ad last November. He and some friends delivered it to the Bay a few days before Christmas, and she has been moored right off Schoonmaker Marina ever since. No doubt you've seen her..."

I live in Pelican Harbour. My view off my bow is Schoonermakers, and there is no schooner of that size around, other than LORD JIM at 73 feet on deck, to my portside 30 or so slips away. As far as I know, Dave still owns WHITEFIN, and is trying to sell her. But if you hear of any shipshape schooners that size around, I'm lookin'

Gary, I was looking on the Schoonerman Site in the "Forum" section. There was several schooners on there in various lengths. Maybe this will help you. Here is the link.

Thanx a bunch. I'm looking at several on that site, but there's this 1909 Baltic Trader in Spain....only 60' on deck, but 60 ton gross kinda makes up for only being a gaff cutter.....oh well, keep on lookin'
