Ok, just in case you've been hiding under a rock and aren't aware...
The Port Townsend Wooden Boat festival is occurring next week, September 5-7. I, for one, am going to be there for 2 solid days (Friday the 5th and Sat the 6th). For the first time I will be spending a couple nights at a B&B. We should Gather and gab!! Looking over the schedule, I see that there are only a gazillion workshops I want to attend (rolls eyes), but I'll make every effort to meet folks if they're interested and talk. I'll be there with my mom, who has made the effort to fly out from Maine to visit. Look for my notorious brown braid. If you see a girl with a 4-foot braid, chances are good that it's me.
Anyone interested in meeting?

Hello, Barrett:
Vicky and I will be there with MAGIC, so please feel free to stop by, or you can look Vicky up wherever the Pardey booth will be since Hasse "roped" her into helping out ;)
Cheers,
Kermit

Me and the youngest boy will be there, too, although we aren't displaying a boat this time.
Looking for a restorable daysailing wedding gift for the oldest boy for next year, so I'll be prowling around....a lot cheaper than building one from scratch.

I will be there with OPAL. Stop by and say hello, I'm sure there will be some sort of refreshments available. Jamie will be there with VICTORIA. So I'm sure we can all get together for a bit.

As Ed said, we'll have Victoria in the show so please stop by. (If you know anyone looking for a sweet 30 footer, bring em by as it looks like we're going to move on to a different type of boat ownership.)
Last year we tried to put together an elbow bending session but failed to have an identifying marker. As a result, I got together with Nicholas and Plimsol, but never were able to connect with Meerkat and John Welsford. Any ideas for a time and a table marker? Saturday evening seems the best, but not too early as there is often a sail by during the late afternoon. 6:30 or 7 at the Beer Garden with Hawaiian shirts (since Kermit's already mentioned them)? Any good table marker ideas?
I look forward to seeing folks at the show.

The wife and I will be there as usual. We were registered to have our boat "Ipsut" in the festival again but sadly it looks as if we will not be back in the water in time to make it. We and Ipsut,(30ft. junk schooner rigged Swampscot dory), were there last year but missed any WBF people.
Would be interested to meet some of you folks. Any plan?
Here's to kindness,
Dave

I'll be there. Prolly with a PIRATE tee-shirt or sweatshirt (bright red with small gold R-11, PIRATE on what would be the breast pocket).
Oh...and one filthy Tilley hat :D

It sounds like Saturday Evening at the Beer Garden sounds good.
times.. eesh.. hard to say, what with dragging ma mere along.. when does the BG close? Plan for 7:30 at BG and if we have to, relocate to friendly pub/eatery?
I'll jsut make up a printed-out table-topper sign that says "PSEBS" or suchlike.

The beer tent is open...late, as the bands keep playing for dancing.

Due to travel times, I'll just hang out at the BG when there's time, with signs, whatever. Folks come and go, but a table stays? Haha~
Flags- good thought! I'll bring my St. Andrew's Cross from work
See you soon!

I'm with Carey. 6:00 pm. For those of us walking on the ferry from Whidbey, evening activities are constrained by the departure time of the last boat. You folk staying over or heading back to Bainbridge or Kingston for a boat from there don't have this problem. We're so provincial on Whidbey that we don't let folk back on the island after curfew.
Do the festival Beer Tent remain open late? Anybody know fersure? If not, I'm for picking up a rack of Moose Drool and heading for Victoria--the boat, not the city. I promise to stay on the float and behave, Jamie.

You won't be rolling your eyes after you see them. Cirque du Soleil is to 'circus' as Guinness stout is to Bud lite.
No animals. no clowns per se. just amazing theatre.
Enjoy :D

Oh, I am looking forward to it. Heard wonderful things! I'm just rolling my eyes at her timing... (Kinda thought my wild ass guess at the spelling was probably off... ;) )

We suddenly decided this morning to have an adventure, so we're off to the ocean for the weekend and will be at the show tomorrow, Saturday. I hope we can meet up with you Barrett - we have a cell (406) 431-9321, and will look for you at the beer garden at 6.00

Nick,
Take them down to see Kay Dee II. She's at the city docks. The walk will burn off the calories.
I brought her up yesterday, towing a BJK - It's like towing a house trailer behind a Dussenberg Roadster. Once we dumped the BJK, we had to burn the carbon off the valves-Hadlock in 20 minutes. This is about as close as one can get to recreating what it must have been like transporting malted beverages for the Atlantic & Pacific Transportation Co, LTD in the 1920's. Think about a 50' version.
Pirate calls: Pond Boats and decking this weekend.
Barrett! We just came back from the festival and Im sure I saw you at the wooden block-making demo.Your braided hair description was the give away. It was a great festival, I took in alot of the lectures and demos etc. Very interesting and I learned lots. And lots of nice boats. See ya next year.

Katie and I saw Jamie and Betsy aboard Victoria, and Nick dropped in. Good wine in great glasses--thanks folks.
Jamie, if you still have your directory of the participants, can you get me contact info by e-mail for the owner of the dory Arrow? I'd like to talk to him/her about engine installation.
And by the way, world, it rained. Always does here. Stay where you are, it's better there.

Wow what a nice festival! Great to see forum buddies Kermit & Katie, Priscilla the ex ocean-goddess, Nick, Jeff Kelety, and Ed Nye. I was sad we got to the Beer Garden a little too late to meet Barrett and others. We ended up getting delayed by a prospective buyer and got to the tent around 8. Oh well, maybe next year.
Kermit, I checked in the Guide to Wooden Boats 2003 book from the festival and Arrow wasn't in there. However, she was the boat being used for clearing into Point Hudson for the festival and I know her to be a Port Townsend area boat. I'd give a call to the Wooden Boat Foundation to see if you can get a name from them.
As Kermit said, on Sunday it rained. We headed for Seattle around 1PM to catch the slack tide at Port Townsend Canal and soon had a nice thick drizzle coming down. After the canal we rigged a boom tent over the cockpit since there was little wind. We soon were very glad we had as a number of thankfully low wind squalls came through and just poured on us. The awning made the difference between ending up thoroughly damp as opposed to total drowned rat status. It was a fitting ending to tha nicest summer we've had in a long time and felt like a real transition to fall. This morning I put on real leather shoes for the first time in months.
See you all next year!

Grrr! Dang Pictures! This used to work fine but my security software keeps blocking cookies from Imagestation even when I tell it to accept. Can anyone do a little magic out there and get these up. I'm sure John Ashcroft must be at the bottom of all this!!
