View Full Version : Scotty, beam me up!

Beam radiation, day 3:

Bloomin' miracle! The huge lump in my head has shrunk! My eye seems to have moved back somewhat into my head - it was "out" 8mm, but feels like it's further in now.

This is eaither due to the radiation or the dexamethasone anti-inflamatory steriod I'm now taking. I think it's some of both.

Funny, after only the 2nd treatment (and the first on my chest), within a few hours I had this subtle feeling that something was going on - my body knew that something had been done to it. However, I only really felt something physical on the 3rd day and then on only 1 of the 3 beams aimed at each site: a sensation of heat on my skin. I'm now getting a very localized suntan on the sites, but it's likely to be more like a bad sunburn later on. I've got all kinds of stuff to put on it already, plus eye ointment and artificial tears.

I'm feeling just a bit better in general. Part is getting over the initial shock of the move and getting used to this zoo I'm now in. Some of it is getting something done with the cancer, and some of it might just be a bit of getting better. Time will tell.

I'll never be able to say enough, or do enough, to say "thanks" to all of you who have helped me and kept me in your thoughts. Hard to believe that so many people are thinking of me! Thank you all so much!

Good luck, Meer. You know that though we've had our moments, I'm on your side against this. With all humility, in recognition of the common dark of all our mortalities, heal well.

Good news, I was thinking of posting a "where's Meerket" thread earlier.

Are the nurses good looking?

Hang in there, buddy.

Even working just a few hours in the evening, your ailing little pram is recovering rapidly.

I'm already on spars and oars while the paint cures.

Painting the daggerboard case with a shotgun cleaner? Huh. How smooth of coverage do you get?

Excellent news Meer.

I ran into a mate of mine that I hadn't seen for many years - he had the same problem 15 years ago. By my reckoning, that takes you through to 2020 at least.
