I felt compelled to do this today, Wednesday, April 10, for my column in the newspaper:

From the Other Side April 10 (http://www.banner-tribune.com/ftos/Columns/ftos4-10.htm)

It was meant to be a tribute, and I hope everyone takes it as such.

Regards from the Rez,
R

Well said, Roger.

God bless you and yours.

A parting few words from Longfellow:

"... We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time.

Footprints, that perhaps another,
Sailing o'er life's solemn main,
A forlorn and shipwrecked brother,
Seeing, shall take heart again.

Let us, then, be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate;
Still achieving, still pursuing,
Learn to labour and to wait."

Good on ya Roger. A very nice bit of work, I suspect a lot of tools and fastenings are going to be moved or temporarily lost in a lot of boatshops in coming years. Here's to you Das.

Cecil, who has the distinct feeling that he didn't put that box of copper nails over there on …

Thank you Roger. It is indeed a wonderful tribute to Darryl and our community here.

It's printing now and will go in the "Sarah's Friends" scrapbook.

Sincerely,
Margo and Dave Geer

Thank you, Roger. It's a pleasure sharing this place that isn't a place with you (and you, and you, and all the others).

Thank you all, but the honor is yours...ours, if you will, as members of this community. And to Darryl, of course. Thanks also to StanV and Scott Rosen for their contributions to the column from their post here on the forum.

Jim Northrup, Ojibwe writer, said it isn't enough to learn something: To really make it part of your life, you have to share it with family and friends. Further, my grandfathers here on this ancient, beloved ground said that stories are meant to be told, to be believed in, because when we stop believing in something, it ceases to exist.

As long as we believe, Darryl will continue to exist.

Best regards from the Rez,
R
