Had a quick two-day trip to Philadelphia last weekend. Sadly, no opportunity to visit boats or photograph same on this trip. However, we will be returning in the summer, and will not be denied then! Weather was shnasty anyway. But, I discovered that, aside from wooden boats there are some interesting steel boats on display: a WWII submarine and Admiral Dewey's ship from the Spanish American War! I had no idea any of those old Pre-1900 steel battle wagons were still afloat. Gotta see that!
Alas, no meals at Bookbinders this time. Dinner at Pompeii was very good, and the Blue Angel is a nice rendition of a French bistro. All it needs is better lighting. When SWMBO has to use the table candle to read the menu, the lighting has gone way beyond romantic.
So, alas, no wooden boats. BUT I dis stumble across the most funky, retro bicycle shop I've ever seen: Via Bicycles in South Philly. And just up the street I met a man who covers entire buildings in mosaic tile. He is quite the fellow...here's his website if you want to see some of his work..

Thanks to all for the tips on where to find wooden boats in Philly. Stay tuned for part 2!
