I just arived in Beaufort, NC. Wonderfull little town. I spent the afternoon at the NC Maritime Meuseum, well worth the trip. They have a boatbuilding shop, where they are building a variaty of wooden boats, but the best part of the meuseum is the library. It is the most extensive collection of nautical books I have ever seen. I will be spending lots of time there while I am in town. They have the complete collection of WoodenBoat magazines.

Mark...It's a great place to visit, but I wouldn't want be stationed there (again). Actually, I loved my off-base time there.

Mark, are you anchored out in the creek or tied up at the dock, along the creek?

It's a great place and if you don't do anything else, get hooked up with oyster Mike. When you get a little farther north, look up Tom Lathrop. Another good man. Bell Haven is a great place to check out.

I just met Oyster, he stopped in the meusium to say hi. I may stick around a few more days, I plan on spending a few days in by one of the barier islands, to avoid spending money. I may spend nest weekend in Oriental.

If you need anything, Mark, post a note, when you return from the Cape. Tom is in Canada, right now, and then on to the EAA airshow in Wisconsin, I think. I should have left you a number. But I didnt know you were staying any longer than tommorrow. If you wish to take the outside, it is twelve miles down the beach to the hook of the cape. The weather is calling for it to be nice this week. Take strong mosquito spray. There is breakout of Encephalitis from the bite right now. They will carry you away, if you go to the lighthouse down there.

I just got back from Cape Lookout, I took the inside route. There were a few places that were barely 2 feet at low tide, but I didn't want to go outside if the wind was to much, which it was for the last 3 days. It was a nice break, I didn't spend any money. I plan on heading to Oriental tomorrow.
