A little update on the situation in Grenada for those interested-just heard form an old friend at Shipwrights-the well known wooden boat shop at Grenada Marine-Grenada Marine is on the west coast (west of Prickly Bay that got pretty hammered) and they faired amazingly well in Ivan-they had only a few boats out of I think a hundred or so tip over in the yard, but escaped without devastating damage and are back in business!! 'Course, they have plenty of damage and could use some business, so bring your boat down there for a refit! But seriously, they fared astonishingly well-the rest of the island was much harder hit and there is terrible damage is many places-true to form-the report is that the Grenadians are in good spirits and are busy getting their lives back together-the island as a whole received a tremendous beating and can use any support of help that we luckier souls can offer...

I just got these photos last night from my friend John. His Cross Tri was on the hard in Grenada and she did much better than I would have thought. The pictures helped to give me an idea of what kind of damage was done in Grenada.

I guess wind damage is easier to get reimbursed for than bullet holes......

The only thing I heard was that they got hit hard-at Grenada Marine the force 10+ breeze came from the north, which is probably why they did so well and I'd think Carriacou could take a beating with northerly wind... Communications are still pretty weak, but if I hear anything further I'll post it, doesn't sound too good...
