For those of you within driving distance of Connecticut, I heartily recommend that you check out the Defender annual sale this weekend. It is an absolutely awesome place. Picture West Marine, 100 times better, without the hype, with sales people who know sailing and know the products, and then put it on steroids.
There's really no other place like it.

For those admiring John R. Smith's black Sou'Wester, Defender is where their replacement ones came from. The brims are a little wider than the one in his signature photo, but they'll do.

I used to think the same thing, Scott. Then I wandered into Hamilton Marine up in Maine. It took a while to stop drooling.
Then again.... "expert" = "someone from out of town"

Sounds like a good excuse to take a trip to Hamilton Marine.

There's an Irish named pub in Belfast with a cajun cook (or at least there was in 2002). Mighty fine!
