Hey guys, I posted a Bud McIntosh anecdote a while back and notice that it only has one response. Maybe you read and enjoyed it(or not), but felt no need to respond. I don't need kudos, nor am I thin skinned, but I would like to know if I should post any more.

I liked it very much, and enjoy hearing recollections of fleeting moments that reveal someone's character or humor.
Don't take a lack of response for lack of interest. Sometimes I post and bring a thread to a dead halt, and wonder if I've said something out of place (and if so I wish someone would give me feedback about it  ) I guess you just have to like throwing things out to the wind, and trust that somebody somewhere will read it.

This internet forum is kinda weird in that you can have a coversation like we are now but be so out of sync with each other. I would not take no responces as an insult, just there really was not much to add to the discussion. Are you teh same Ellis that will be teaching woodenboat repair at the WBS this summer? I am scheduled to attend.

Anyone who builds boats like Bud did, I'd be interested in hearing more about. ;)

John Atkin says about Bud......."Bud McIntosh's Boat Building Methods published by Wooden Boat magazine, Brooklin, Maine and well illustrated by Sam Manning is also an excellent book on a11 manners of practical methods for boat building. McIntosh, a wooden boat builder with years of first hand experience, has recorded his procedures in building a proper yacht. A man of great ingenuity, Bud McIntosh's book should be in every boat builder's library.

Mr. KIA's link to the article about Gordon Swift was interesting. A friend of mine worked alongside him building a Joel White transom-sterned Sakonnet 23 a few winters ago and loved the experience.

Yep Chris, I'm the same one. Look forward to meeting you. Thanks for the response everyone. I just don't want to bore you to tears. I find the Atkins reference interesting, as one of the episodes I had thought about involves some communication between Bud and Billy Atkins.I'll try to get to it soon.

I spent a couple of evenings with Swifty and Doris on their boat last summer. They were fogged in down at WoodenBoat and I was teaching a course.Swifty came in every day and we hung out swapping stories. What a treat!

I liked it, too. smile.gif I almost posted my embarrasing (to me:D) Sam Manning story but didn't want to hijack your thread. Keep 'em coming.

Same here. see what I'm saying/ have said several times before. we should lobby Scot and WB for a 'views' counter like other forums have. It reinforces us invisible post makers. :D

Over the course of my WBF history I've posted well in excess of 2000 times and I'm just now realizing that silence isn't necessarily a comment in itself.
Thanks for posting. Yours are the kind of posts that keep many of us coming back.
I like the counter idea.

Ellis ; as others have said : I enjoyed the post but had no intelligent comment to add to it .As a professional boat builder for many years , this is likely to be the case with many of your posts here ; but we are reading !

Ellis, I liked the story too. I never met Bud Macintosh, except through sailing on one of his schooners.
however, having met the other party to the story, it's not hard to picture the situation. ;)
Keep em coming, says I
More please. I read it, enjoyed it, and could think of nothing to say. I should have said smile.gif , I suppose.

Not a dud at all.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you.
There was simply--- nothing that I could add.
Alan
Agreed. I don't post much, but I read a lot and I enjoyed the story very much. Thanks, and please do share some more.
Here is an echo! Comment was made that some of the other forums record views and responces, Just because I couldn't add anything doesn't mean I didn't read it.
I guess in the absence of a views counter we could just reply " yup" or "nope" or sumpin like that.
