Well, we get a bit of warm weather, finally, and every Michigander disappears to the beach. Are we still on for Saturday, folks? My wife, Terry, and I are planning on making the trip. So, who's in?

Jeff, I'm sorry to hear that you cannot make it. Perhaps we can have a messabout later in the summer.
Rich, I'm wearing jeans and a shirt with no paint or epoxy spatters on it ;) . I figure casual but respectacle ought to do it.
Dennis
WoodenBoat tee shirt & jeans.
QWS in A.M., Cugino's in P.M.
Stop and say hi at the QWS. I'll have my strip canoe there. Not done there until 6.

Hey all,
Just got home...had a beer at Cuigino's after work. Talked to the manager. He's expecting us tomorrow afternoon (around 2:00). Cuigino's is actually one storefront away from the corner mentioned in the directions, so keep your eyes open.
See you all there.

Well, I don't have a t-shirt, but will be wearing a green collared shirt being that it is only about 11 days away from St. Patrick's day. Terry and I are looking forward to making the trip and meeting new friends.
Cheers,
Dennis

Of course, we expect a review of libations consumed and skiffs discussed. Give us an update of the good time had by all!

I want to thank all who made it to the first annual (?) MIBB-EBS meet today at Cuginos in Grand Ledge, MI. It was nice to meet Paul C (Big Rapids), Rich Van Valkenberg (Warren), MJC and Marilyn (Lansing), Beowulf, aka Jeff H (Jackson), and Guillemot, aka Jeff E (Lansing by way of MA). A special thanks to Jeff H for making arrangements for us to gather at Cuginos. Nice place, reasonable prices, and good food!
Word was batted around considering a messabout or two, so stay tuned for possible dates for the summer. Hopefully, one of those dates will coincide with the launching of Guillemot's Gardner Swampscott Dory. Hopefully too, we can gather many others who could not attend today for whatever reason.
Rich has pictures of the crew. Thanks again for a delightful time.
Cheers,
Dennis & Terry Marshall

Skiffs were discussed and Sharpies over which MJC and I had to sharply agree to disagree ;) . I'd forgotten to bring some pics of my boat, but Rich proudly showed off his 22sqm class. I'm jealous, but have been informed that I am welcome to be railmeat at some future date. Fine by me!
Paul C is a paddler and showed us some pics of some of his boats. I remember distinctly a Gavin Atkin designed Mouse. He also showed some pics of a cardboard boat (made from an old refrig box) that competed in a hundred yard paddling race. The boat looked pretty good, but he did not show that at the finish line was a dumptser to receive what was left of the boat at race's end.
Jeff H brought his computer and regaled us with pics of his project -- a stretched Strayer design. Definitely a nice boat, but I was more taken by the computer wall paper with a beautiful pic of his 12wk old son. Aces!
Dory Talk -- Canoe Talk -- fixed wing sail talk -- and a host of other bits and pieces that I cannot recall at the moment. Others will have to fill in what they heard.

Isn't it a wonderfull experience? I think a combined elbow group of middle America, and Land-O-Lakes meeting would make for a nice summer retreat in middle of the summer.

Blast, Rich! And you probabbly planned not having your pic taken, you sly devil! That's alright, we'll catch you standing at the helm of your boat and show everyone what you're made of. Cheers! And thanks much for bringing the camera and posting the pics.

Actually, I get to shoulder the blame for that one. redface.gif No sooner had I gotten onto I-96 when I thought "Blast it! Jeff! You didn't get a shot of Rich and Paul! (You big dummy)" Sorry guys. I'll do better next time.
Great way to spend an afternoon though. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again this summer. Who knows? Maybe we'll even have have two boats to launch. ;)

ROTFL! Doesn't matter, the batteries lasted just long enough to get those shots. There was nothing left when I went to download. That's ok though, it gives me time to figure out how to get my hair as dark as those other guys before our next event.

Hi Terry & Dennis,
I sure looks like it was a delightful time! That was a great cold weather idea to get together like that. If you can organize a messabout we'll all look forward to getting a full (detailed with photos!) account. ;)
It was nice to see a few of you at the QWS.
I'm interested in a warm water get together.

It was great meeting you all last weekend! Next time, though, let's get together somewhere that sells beer darker than Labatt's!!!
Bob G, you should have come! We'll have to make sure we do a float this summer sometime for sure.
Jeff H. I'll be in touch with you soon about glueing up my mast at your shop. That sounds like a much better plan than what I had developed, which fell somewhere short of workable. Thanks for the offer!
Take care all!
Cheers,
Jeff

Hey Jeff:
hackborn@msu.edu
Give me a holler. (And the liquor store on the corner has much darker beer! Good to drink while throwing darts in the shop.)
