The last time I launched in English Bay was at Kitsilano Yacht Club. I don't know anyone there anymore, but they used to be the kind of folks who were pretty relaxed about such things.

Hi Gert;
There are a couple of good launching ramps just on the south side of False Creek, almost under the Burrard Street bridge.

Theres a boat ramp at Vanier Park next door to the planetarium. 2 really good ramps there.
Check out this web site and you can see the ramps on their web cam. www.katkam.ca (http://www.katkam.ca)
The ramps are in the fore ground just past the bridge.

I went over there yesterday to have alook; those a great ramps (huge). Two long floating docks and a beach, that's perfect for launching a sail boat. And cheap too, $7.00 to park a trailer till midnight; Rocky point in Ptmoody wants $12
Thx

So I had Carina out in English bay yesterday for the very first time, from above launch site. The wind were very light brobably about 4k when I tried to launch and the tide was comming in.(this boat cannot be rigged moored to a dock, it must be done on a beach) I ended up rowing out and completed the rigg "at sea"; I just couldn't make any head way against that tide;and man is there a lot of traffic in front of those ramps :eek: . Once I was out the winds picked up periodicaly to about 10k and I had a lot of fun. There was a rock concert on shore with some serious amps so I had free live music :D , it was hot and sunny :cool: and the boat was great. Life is good smile.gif
