View Full Version : Two stroke ban

Found a 1956 Wagemaker Wolverine 14 ft. runabout in Wisconsin and brought to Southern California. It has a 1956 Evinrude Big Twin Electric 30 hp. Where can I find list of waters in California that either ban or allow use of the old two-stroke motors. Do I have to check out each pond individually? :cool: :rolleyes:

Turns out that the California Department of Boating and Waterways (DBW) has a detailed discussion of this on their web site.

There is no current (or expected) statewide ban on the USE of 2 strokes -- only a ban on the sale of new motors. Older motors can be used AND resold. There are 11 lakes where local authorities restrict the use of 2 strokes, most of them drinking water reservoirs in northern CA. No restrictions on 2 strokes on rivers or salt water.
