Well, glad to have been accepted aboard the WoodenBoat .. but first I must apologize for the inappropriate nick. Seeing as that I'm the youngest/newest crew hand aboard and I should first start learning the ropes.
Of course, I do no mean to imply that I would be the new Skipper and I do not intend mutiny or such ... which still is a capitol offence.
;) Well, seriously now. A little introduction, who am I?
35 y.o., male, born in the US, bred in the Netherlands where I still live, Most recently employed in ICT, ex- a lot of other professions and trades due to my wandering spirit. Currently recovering from car-crash. Anxious father-to-be (1st), 'berth'-day expected the end of May.
I must most sincerely confess that I don't sail a wooden boat as I should, but Tupperware as I lovingly like to call it. Please do not judge me too harshly for it. Other than that I'm probably just as passionate a sailor as the next guy/gal here.

Welcome aboard. There's lot's of tupperware-applicable wisdom around this place, beyond varnish for the hatch covers and ceyanne in the bottom paint.
If you've not seen it, try to get a book called 'Heart of Glass' which really covers the early greats of the fibreglass revolution. These guys, like us, have fun with boats.

Welcome to the forum from another inappropriate nickname. :D
Don't worry about the Tupperware boat. Any time on the water is good time as far as I'm concerned and we'll convert you to wood soon enough. ;)

Another wharf rat sign the ship's articles. Aaargh, matey! You're stuck now :D in our [sometimes dysfunctional] little group.
I'm not so sure I'd be apologising for the nom-de-web so much as worrying that I'd be stuck with it—ask the Wild Dingo about trying to dump the handle (somehow, "Shane Eyre" just doesn't come acrost the same way :D

On the nick: Well, you all must agree it would indeed be presumptious. Say I were to ... uhm, enter your boat and call myself Skipper.
Seeing as this is a website, the site is the boat, the moderators the crew and the rest of us the passengers. Skipper then should be the webmaster.
Or does it only count as mutiny IRL? Glad btw, that it isn't real life, 'cause my appearance right now would do no justice to my natural beauty. A wink, a smile and my tongue in my cheek, all at the same time. (warning: only try this at home, in front of a mirror but never ever display these mimics in public).
Well, seriously now. Glad to be here. Yee all seem such a lively crew here aboard. Thx for all the warm welcomes.

Hey and actually Skipp3r, you bring up an interesting point. The moderator is noone, so it's also everyone. That makes us all crew, and the captain, Scot, he musta been made post so we may call him our captain but he's actually more of an Admiral.
And we're skippers by right 'cause we own boats, so that's a pretty appropriate nickname then, welcome.
