Warren, Shamus, Banjo, Daddles, Dingo, etc. etc etc..... and all you lurkers as well.
OK you lot, Skujeff and myself are going to get our wrinkled old carcases to Lake Boga in Victoria on the second weekend of March 2004. We want as many of you as possible to bring yourselves and any hangerson you can bribe, threaten or otherwise coerce to turn up there with us. Jeff tells me there are several caravan parks on the lakeside so if we can manage to get all in the same one we won't have to travel to do all the yarning, skiting etc. etc. Jeff can maybe bring a couple of boats and likewise for myself so those of you that can't bring one can still get a float afloat....
Ok, let Skuthorp or myself know if you acn maybe make it and we will see what we can organise.

Lake Boga is just out of Swan Hill, Jeff has picked it as it is fairly central for SA, NSW and Vic. Do you think you could be a taker?

http://www.murrayriver.com.au/regions/lake-boga/

Lake Boga was down to 6ins or so last summer, but they are filling it now from the Murray and with a normal summer it should be ok I think.
For our US readers, it was a maintenance and training base for Catalinas during WW2, and the small museum has an aircraft fuselage and lots of photos and artefacts. Quite a few local girls ended up in the US as brides.

Sh.....t I'd better get my butt moving and finish the boat. Seriously I won't be finished by march 2004. 2005 definitely. You'll have to make it an annual event.

Sailed on Lake Boga many years ago at a Cobra Catamaran regatta. From what I remember it was a nice lake to sail on.

Keep me posted for 2005, or if I am lucky late 2004.

cheers

Does this clash with the Wooden Boat Show at the Australian Maritime Museum - Darling Harbour in March 2004?

Got to admit that I don't have a clue Ian.... if it does then we will just have to make sure it bloody well doesn't! Shouldn't be a problem for us flexible boaty types mate. ;)
Mike, great to "see" you, I am hoping to catch up with you soonish.

Sounds fun, but I'm not sure about trailering a 50 year old clinker all that way

Pagie, how does the Sea Skiff behave on Port Phillip? I'm thinking hard about starting to build one next year.

The skiff is only 3 years old. and trails fine. I have taken it to Lakes Enterance, nearly the same distance, and you don't know it is behind you. It handles prety well, I had to put two small fins on the back of the hull near the side of the well, to getit to behave going down hill. the only problem I have with it is in a cross wind i get wet sitting at the tiller stearing. I have a small 15 hp Honda, plenty fast enough but no provision for forward controls. went out fishing yesterday, waves only 2 ft. I have had it out in 6-8ft waves. no drama. but very wet . I may put on some spray rails like the Tolman has to see if that would help. How do I post pics? in water.jpg

Take off the .orig.jpg. Then you put the address in at the first ahead of the [img]http, and at the end of jpg with no spaces between any of the address.

Depends on your taste a bit, but start with a walk around the docks in Hobart. The Wooden Boat School at Franklin also has a visitor centre, and check out this website

amol.org.au/foundmade/maritime.asp

Oh- it doesn't seem to turn blue, dunno what I did there!! Enjoy your visit!!

Mike- caravan and boat a bit cumbersome on the Ferry maybe, still thinking.

Time to fire this thread up again. March is only a few sleeps away.

Who's going?

I hope to - with a Mouseboat on the roof.

Cheers

Hi Daddles, sorry to dissapoint but owing to a problem for Doorstop, and the clash of the heritage boat show in Williamstown I postphoned it, or at lesst my attendance this time. There is a floatplane fly-in on the same weekend so we would have had to go to Lake Charm or Kangaroo lakeIll put a link in the stream for you to follow.
