OK - under pressure to post more sailing oriented pics - here we go

Cockpit detail from the 1888-built Akarana - New Zealand's gift to Australia for the our Bicentenary in 1988. In return, we have given them the suburb of Bondi - home to about 10% of NZ's population. (oops - I'll get into trouble for that - especially as 20% of our household is Kiwi by birth)

Sorry - no details on this one, just a nice boat

War and Peace - the warship is HMAS Vampire a sister ship to HMAS Voyager which made the mistake of cutting acros the bow of one of our aircraft carriers about 40 (?) years ago. From memory, 84 sailors died. One of my ex-neighbours got out, but all who had just minutes before replaced his crew went down, as did the other seven at his table in the mess.

More saily thingos (I'm a multihull sailor - these things appear to have water brakes hanging off the bottom of them). The black thing in the background is the knob on the bow of one of our old submarines.

Ian, pic 3 is, I think, Paul Gartside's, Tomales Bay 'Jessie' #113. ( www.gartsideboats.com (http://www.gartsideboats.com) )

Named Odyssey and owned/built by Eric Simes in strip planked Huon Pine & King Billy Pine (both Tasmanian), she is absolutely superb. The Huon detail on the rudder and fittings etc just glows! Paul Gartside has achieved a stunning shear and sweeping proportions to the foredeck and she stood up well for looks against a nearby very nice Joel White/Herreshoff Haven 12.5.

An absolute credit to the designer and builder and I thought one of the best small boats on display.
