On the PSEB John Welsford thread in this Forum, Barrett Faneuf has told of her plans to build a Eun Mara, and of her first steps in that direction.
I do have an Uncle near Puget Sound in Seattle, and he has a garage, but isn't there one of our participants out there who has a better location for Barrett's boatbuilding endeavors?
My impresssion is that she's located in Lakewood.
Perhaps someone nearby has a suitable bit of space to spare?

WOW!
Thanks, Alan!!
I'm ashamed to say that it never even crossed my mind to poll the excellent people here for possible build sites. Of course! Who else is more likely to tolerate a boatshed in their back yard?
I really appreciate your going out of your way to put my space challenge out here.
For anyone interested, Eun Mara is a 19' 6" design, discounting bowsprit and boomkin. I've estimated that a minimum space to build this boat would be 25' x 12-15'. I would be delighted to install a tasteful shelter (to owner's taaste of course) on an outdoor location and/or and pay a rental charge. Heck, I'll bribe with food if I have to (I'm told that I'm not a deadly cook).
Thanks again,
Barrett

I don't get down around Tacoma and Lakewood often. However, If I were Barrett I might start by dropping into Bates Technical College (they advertise in WB) in Tacoma and see if anyone in their boat building program (phone 253-680-7439)has any leads, or some space, tools and expense they would be willing to share. Perhaps Barrett might find a like minded individual there that would work out as a partner, each building their own boat while sharing the same space. That might be a tough one. Oh well, whatever it takes sometimes.

If it were I, I'd get to know the folks at Seattle's Center for Wooden Boats. The people that hang there are always involved in some project and have the how to get it done.

ED,
I saw your boat at PT & kept looking for ya, but somehow missed. :( She looked good.

We all have to figure out how to get better at meeting each other. PT was a good example of not getting it right. We were all milling around each other and couldn't hook up.
Sorry to have missed you Tom,

Okay, what happened to that idea for a Forum Burgee. This missing good folks has got to stop. Sorry to have missed you Tom.

Barrett's quite talented, judging by some of her posts and pictures. I would suggest to anyone reading this in the Seattle area who might be interested in learning something, that you could offer Barrett some space in exchange for some first-hand knowledge.
Jamie, I like the idea of a Forum burgee. Someone with a talent for design may want to give it a shot.

Barrett and I are working on our boats together. To be more honest, she is going to teach me how to build a boat and I'm going to hold things for her while she builds hers. The lady has no great shortage of tools and seems to shop for those the way some women shop for new clothes - vigorously! smile.gif
Space is still somewhat of an <ahem> open question though smile.gif

Really? I thought he's only about half a bubble left of center. You need a stronger glass to see what's REALLY Left--way out there on the edge of the chart.

Well today my search for the perfect boatshed moved forward exponentially.
24 feet by 14 feet, enclosed byt a twin bay and sundry extra storage space.
Translated = 2 car garage with attached house smile.gif . My offer was accepted today. If all goes as it should, in a month i will be a homeowner and will build IN MY OWN HOUSE!!!!!
TY all and there will be pics.

Congratulations, Barrett, and good luck!
You couldn't have timed the mortgage market much better.
We're all looking forward to photos as your project progresses.

Great news! With interest rates at a thirty year low you're getting in at a good time.
I have so much to do before I can start my Eun Mara. I'd really like to wire, insulate and drywall the garage before setting up the building forms. And that's after I finish moving the laundryroom upstairs, and building all of my kitchen cabinets and fixing some siding on the north side of the house.....
Is there enough room for Meerkat's Whilly Boat?
That sounded like the perfect project for you to gear up for Eun Mara. Make all the mistakes on his boat and yours will be perfect!
Good luck,
Steven
