Well, we went to the Wooden Boat Festival in Port Townsend but we didn't look at many boats. As it turns out, we didn't have time. The family did the Family Boat Building and built a Skunk Island Skiff in 3 days. Yes, you really can. We worked hard but had a blast.

Son Robert and I on day 1.

Daughters got into it really well.

The grandsons even helped. You will notice that both have a curl going. Not bad for 3 and 6. Althought that #4 is probably a little big for the little guy. Uncle Robert was a big help.

The folks at WBF really did a great job and it was a great weekend. Now all I have to do is finish, paint and build the sail rig.

OK, one of these days I'll check my spelling.

On the other hand they don't get much prettier than Taleisin under sail.

All in all, I can't remember when I had a better weekend.

Bob;

If you mean the Pardey's boat, that is not Taleisin - she is not a ketch like that one, she is a cutter.

Beautiful. The little red heads I mean. Oh nice going on the boat too. What fun.

Nice photos, Bob. Can't think of a better way to spend a couple of days, combining family and boats. Wish we had something like that down here. Great looking crew on that maiden voyage.
How's First Try coming?

Thanks Guys

The boat show was alot of fun. We are hoping to do it again next year. The daughter and son in law want to build a boat by themselves next year. Just them and the two grandsons. I've been thinking of vollentering. Free parking and a cool tee shirt. The boat, by the way, is on the back porch waiting to be finished off. I've told the kids they need to help with that to.

Al, First try seems slow right now. One of those times that one needs to keep motivated. LOTS of epoxy scraping now to clean up. Seems like I found out where alot of that extra epoxy went. The heat gun helps but it is still draging on. Then a minor thing like work interfers. If you want to help, I have an extra scraper.

Shall we start organizing a Forum get together for next year? Wouldn't it be fun to have a Forum sponsered boat be built next year? Pick some worthy family and see if we could get them wound up?

The Wooden Boat Festival is so much fun, they should have it several times a year I say! ;)
