Wayne in the Swamp
We were planing, tentatively, of paying you a visit this past fall, having a sail on your Caladonia Yawl, playing tourist in New Orleans, and visiting some of the Gulf Coast beaches. The weather interfered. OK, let us try for next year.
The important questions are: Are you and your family ok? Do you still have a house? Do you still have a job? Is the boat ok?

My daughter in Tupelo, MS felt a bit of Katrina's fury, but nothing serious. Yes, 2 at the moment. We hope to close on House #1 in New Orleans this week. Yes, in Houston. Yes, the boat is fine. Displaced from the garage by all the furnishings from New Orleans. Safe and snug under the fitted cover in Texas.
The boat will be living in NE Texas from now on, about 25 miles north of Tyler. We would love to have y'all visit and go sailing. Keep in touch.

Can't help but noticed you missed Lockhart (TX) .. and Johnny missed Omaha, Lincoln, Friend, Red Cloud and Valentine (NE), just to mention a few. His tour bus probably rumbled westward from Iowa to Colorado on I-80 while he was asleep

Hmmmmmmm...a bit of GOOGLING reveals that the Hank Snow tune predates I-80. It also reveals that the original tune was written in OZ.

ahhhh .. but Nebraska did have at least two roads when old Hank was writing the tune ... US Hwy 6 and US Hwy 34 run parallel (sorta parallel)to what is today I-80. It's ok, though I stll bet they were asleep on the bus as they drove thru. Hell, the driver could have been asleep too ... cruise control and no ice and that ole' bus probably drove itself across Nebraska!!

And Wayne, how about my old college town, College Station .. noticed it did not make your list either .. everybody should pass thru College Station at least once while the Corps is on campus!!!!

Nice to know that your boat, if not you, is now a Texan. Guess your boat was feeling the "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could" sentiment. If you and said boat are ever driving through Austin, let me know. I have an e-mail list of about 20 local wooden boat owners/builders which I've used a few times to announce spur of the moment messabouts on weekends that have nice weather, and I'm sure a visit by you would certainly be a good reason to hold such an event.

So, where have Y'all been on the lists above?
Damn, Venchka. That's alot work with the BOLD function. I gave up on that. I've been to 53 of the 92 places in the original song.
Good to hear that things are going well for you now. smile.gif

OK fellas - this is an Aussie song - pinched by you yanks - and I can assure you, not as good as the ridgy didge:
I've Been Everywhere by Geoff Mack as sung by Lucky Starr (1962)
I've been everywhere...
Well, I was humpin' my bluey on the dusty Oodnadatta road,
When along came a semi with a high and canvas-covered load.
(Spoken) "If you're goin' to Oodnadatta, mate, um, with me you can ride."
So I climbed in the cabin and I settled down inside.
He asked me if I'd seen a road with so much dust and sand, I said
"Listen, mate, I've travelled ev'ry road in this here land."
Chorus:
Cos "I've been everywhere, man,
I've been everywhere, man.
'Cross the deserts bare, man;
I've breathed the mountain air, man.
Of travel I've had my share, man.
I've been ev'rywhere.
Been to:
Tullamore, Seymour, Lismore, Mooloolaba,
Nambour, Maroochydore, Kilmore, Murwillumbah,
Birdsville, Emmaville, Wallaville, Cunnamulla,
Condamine, Strathpine, Proserpine, Ulladulla,
Darwin, Gin Gin, Deniliquin, Muckadilla,
Wallambilla, Boggabilla, Kumbarilla,
I'm a killer.
Chorus
(Spoken) "Yeah but listen here, mate, have you been to..."
I've been to Moree, Taree, Jerilderie, Bambaroo,
Toowoomba, Gunnedah, Caringbah, Woolloomooloo,
Dalveen, Tamborine, Engadine, Jindabyne, Lithgow, Casino, Brigalow and Narromine, Megalong, Wyong, Tuggerawong, Wangarella,
Morella, Augathella, Brindabella, I'm the feller.
Chorus
(Spoken) "Yeah, I know that, but have you been to..."
I've been to Wollongong, Geelong, Kurrajong, Mullumbimby,
Mittagong, Molong, Grong Grong, Goondiwindi,
Yarra Yarra, Bouindarra, Wallangarra, Turramurra, Boggabri, Gundagai, Narrabri, Tibooburra, Gulgong, Adelong, Billabong, Cabramatta, Parramatta, Wangaratta, Coolangatta, what's it matter?
Chorus
(Spoken) "Yeah, look that's fine, but how about..."
I've been to Ettalong, Dandenong, Woodenbong, Ballarat, Canberra, Milperra, Unanderra, Captain's Flat, Cloncurry, River Murray, Kurri Kurri, Girraween, Terrigal, Fingal, Stockinbingal, Collaroy and Narrabeen,
Bendigo, Dorrigo, Bangalow,
Indooroopilly, Kirribilli
Yeerongpilly, Wollondilly, don't be silly.
Chorus
I've been here, there, ev'rywhere, I've been ev'rywhere.
(Spoken) "Okay, mate, you've been ev'ry place except one, and ya don't need my help t'get there."
(Sound of door slamming and truck driving off.)
I reckon I might have been to a few more of them too - but I don't wanna get the maps out.....
and yeah ..... we've pinched a few of yours too :D I'ts OK - we'll let you borrow it
