I'll bet you're looking for Sarah's Boat A Young Girl Learns the Art of Sailing by Douglas Alvord. It's about a grandfather teaching his 11-year old grandaughter to sail.
It was a recommendation from Donn and he can chime back in with two really good out-of-print booksellers vs. Amazon.com. I ended up with an autographed copy from one of the leads he gave me.
Not only is our boat named Sarah, but we have a new grandchild by that name. And no, neither is named after the other - which fact I'll be explaining for the rest of our lives. Oh well, just another complaint from my otherwise dysfunctional and pathetic little life :D
Donn must still be watching the Westminster trials, but I remembered this in the night.
There was another one too, but try www.abebooks.com (http://www.abebooks.com)
