A genial old boozer, with lots of Victorian charm and that's just the locals. This pub has been one of the better ones for a long time and continues to maintain its high standards. The beer's good, the food's pretty decent, it's got some quaint Victorian fixtures and fittings, without it being too olde worlde, it just gets everything balanced right. The clientele are the genial pub going type and even the drunks are polite and apologetic, although they seem to operate a shift system so there's always one in. The Lamb is in an easy to get to location, but just far enough from the tourist trails to deter all but the determined. Oh, and there's an upstairs function room if you need that kind of thing.

Russell Square: Turn right out of the tube, then next right, walk straight ahead, past the hospital, for a short while. You'll see Lamb's Conduit Street on your right and the pub is near the top of the street. Holborn: leave by the side exit and turn right up High Holborn. cross the road and take the first left up Red Lion Street. Walk up Red Lion Street, cross the main road and carry straight on up Lamb's Conduit Street. After a short while, you'll see the pub on your right.

I emptied my pockets at that pub a number of times during my stint in London. The part about being too far off the path for tourists is true, as I think a full month's time passed before my gang discovered it.

I just saw a British Airways ad in the NY TImes proferring $198 R/T NYC–London airfares with $39 hotel rooms on the side.

What are you guys back east waiting for? :D

British airways is hurting BIG time these days. The way they treated their customers durring the strike this past summer has their bookings down significantly. Lucky for me, My wife works for the OTHER British airline.... :D
