haha, I knew y'all couldn't avoid that thread title.
I'm looking to purchase some silicon bronze screws, probably from Jamestown Distributers. My question: How many screws per box, from them? Is it 100?
Thanks,
Paul

From what I can see and have been told, Hamilton Marine has bettah prices...check it out -
Frearson 8 x 2.5 silicon bronze screws
Hamilton = $22.50/100
Jamestown = $25.80/100
10 x 2.5 Frearsons
Hamilton = $31.98
Jamestown - $33.14
I ordered my 10 x 2.5 bronze Frearson screws from Jamestown before I was told (here, of course!) about Hamilton.

Perhaps screws alone are simply cheaper at one or the other, but it seems that price differences vary across the fastener line of these two vendors. If the difference (and quantity) is substantial, as I found recently when ordering boxes of screws, bolts, nuts, and washers, it may pay to order bolts from one, screws from the other, etc...
Neither vendor can touch wholesale prices, though....we all could use a friend with a commercial account.

Sta-Fast (http://www.standardfastenings.com/) in New Bedford Ma. talk to Pete Despres, tell him you are a boat builder. Also remember higher qty's bring the prices down. smile.gif

I have a box of 100 Silicon Bronze #12 x 1 1/2 that I would sell you for $20.00 plus shipping $3.85. I needed and reordered #8's. Got them from Jamestown about 3 or 4 weeks ago.

Re: Jamestown minimum box size.
Their box size depends on the screw, for example, many small screws only come in 100/bx, but medium size screws can come 10 or 25 or 50/bx, and most large screws and bolts are available 1/bx. Same with corresponding nuts and washers.
Check out their Screw Selection (http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/to;ID;,Fasteners,Screws.Bolts) .
I have also had some success by calling them and talking them down to a smaller box size.
