Not much ground clearance. Do a high frame-lift on a truck, just to hang all that crap under the frame? Won't work on my beaches.
Nice trick-truck, though.

DonW, for the LIBBA types you need a WW II era Jeep with a reworked Chebby motor and an air compressor in the back to re-inflate the tires when you come off the beach after surf casting for stripers or blues.
Oh 'erster I prefers mah Dodge 3500 4x4 with that sweet Cummins under the hood.

Rated at 15,000 lbs minimum towing capacity, Cat diesel, 11 mpg at 70mph on road, priced just above the F350 Ford crew cab 7.5 diesel. DOn't need a beach buggy.

My truck...a proud LIBBA buggy, will eat that GMC and any jeep alive.
A reminder:

'79 E250, 4x4 by Quigley (all Bronco underneath), M351-400 Cleveland, lockers in both pumpkins, ample ground clearance (Dave, you could probable walk under her without bowing)...that's a beach truck.
PS..Compressor is in the chest in the back, along with a Quadraflate...hook up all four meats to the compressor, and do em all at once. 12K# winch buried in the front bumper, and a 6' sheepherders jack, just in case.
Look closely, and you'll also see a pair of chest waders drying on the aft hatch! Icebox and sink in custom cabinetry inside, and a cot big enough for a 6'2" surf-fisherman to wait out the tide.

Super rig Don! Only problem it's a FOAD.
<insert grin here>
Where oh where did you find the mechs to do that work? I have been all over San Diego County and now after having Big Blue, photos at 11. since new in 9/94 for a 1995 model year, I am finally getting a list of decent mechs.
Brakes
Suspension
Diesel Tweaks
now the hunt is on for a Tranny type
Cummins Cal Pacific has done well...so far but, there is this Killer Dowel Pin thing hanging like a sword over my bald haid and can't wait to get it fixed! Chances are they are going to be tagged for it.

Dave...The Bondo Beach Buggy is lovingly attended by a fellow with a company called "Mean Streets" in Howard Beach. He's a custom 4x fellow, who's hobby is to put 500HP engines in little 8 foot boats. He has alot of cars in show, including a '57 Ford Ranch Wagon, built on a Suburban frame and drive train. He does the best Ford 4x work in this part of the world.
