It's a very sad day, but we must sell our beloved 14' Whirlwind. I'm trying to find good places to sell our boat. It's a pretty rare and not recognizible manufacturer and I'm having a difficult time selling it so far. I've tried Boattrader.com and Ebay with no luck. Any tips?

We just had our first child, and I need the money for bills. I know someday we'll buy another wooden runabout, but this one is very special to us.

Try Mike Haines at Hains Boat Restoration. I believe he is in Chester PA, not to far from you. He may be intrested in it or he may take it on consignment.

Good ideas. Not sure why I didn't think about Wooden Boat magazine.

I've tried to look up Mike Haines and haven't had any luck yet, do you know anymore about him?

Thanks again,

Zak

ZAK, You might try www.internetboats.com (http://www.internetboats.com) It has a wooden boat section that is fairly good.

Zak,

Some points to ponder about selling your boat, ask yourself..

Is this boat in excelent condition?...if it is.. someone will want it...if not.. maybe no one will.

If I was a looking for a 14 ft whatever boat, how far would I drive to go look?

Is the price right?.. would I be willing to pay this for it...forget that you said "this one is very special to us"

Plan A
I sugest is an ad in the local papers, if that brings no prospects at this time of the year, waiting till fall will bring fewer.

Plan B
If plan A does nothing, then I would get it ready to go to the Lake Nockamixon or however it's spelled and take it up there with a FOR SALE sign on it.

Plan C
Drive it to Langhorne and make a deal with one of the many used car dealers om Rt 1 there.. you see how they sell the volume of used iron.. make a deal. sure ya gona have to cut the guy in for some comish, but it's that or you gona own it for another year..

Good luck
