We have an older wooden sailboat with a Penta, (pre-Volvo Penta) one cylinder deisel motor as the auxillary. I've been trying to get some information on the company, but not having much luck. I did get a response from Volvo telling me that Volvo took over Penta in 1920, but they had no info on the company itself. Anyone out there have any info or leads?

By the way, the motor still works great, although you have to crank-start it.

Thanks
Hector

You may want to try to contact Dick Vossbury at Whitehall Yacht Yard in Annapolis Maryland. He is Mr. Volvo in that area.

Check out Helmut at Helmut's Marine Service in San Rafael, CA, 415.453.1001

His wife is somehow related to the Volvo people. They ship all over the world. Nobody knows Volvos like Helmut, it seems. If you can't find it in the US, Helmut can have it in a day or two from the mother lode. If he doesn't have your answer, he may be able to get it for you.
