I recently aquired a large quantity of high quality air dried Oregon white oak. My plan is to keep enough to frame my Hankinson Chunky Dory and sell or trade the remainder for the marine ply, epoxy, and silicon bronze fasteners needed for the rest of the project.

I live in the Portland, OR area and would be willing to travel as far as Seattle.

This is not an advertisment, and I hope I'm not violating the policies of this fine site. I'm just getting very frusterated trying to sell several thousand bd/ft from my house. I'm looking for ideas.

Thanks

Or Craig's List. Is that right? Somebody help me.

What a position to be in. Add the big old WRC logs in the area waiting to be milled...hmmmm...wish I were closer to building something and I could drive out and load a trailer full of good lumber.

Where's the guy building an Allegra 24 in Oregon???????????? He could use some oak.

Oh, are you a member of the Yahoo! group MessaboutW? Somebody there might need oak & have something to trade.

Don,
I live in Bellingham, WA and have unbeatbale access to BS 6566 and BS 1088 ply. I use a bit of oak and wouldn't mind doing some trading if your oak is fairly straight grained without too much runout.
Contact me at Bill@bartenderboats.com if you are interested in discussing this further.
I hope that isn't considered an advertisement also.

Thanks for all the help guys. I've been thinking about this project for a couple of years now, but my budget just wouldn't allow it. By salvaging this oak, and trading and bartering for the other materials, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I fact, next weekend I'm driving to Seattle to trade a truckload of wood for a rotted out 21' Glassply with a rebuilt 165hp Mercruiser, outdrive, controls, on a dual axle trailer.

I am a member of another site, ifish.net. In the forums on ifish, there is area called the "Salty Dogs". We talk about salmon, halibut, and bottom fishing and the boats we use to travel far into the North Pacific. During the summer though, the topic turns to Albacore Tuna. I now am proud to call myself a "Tunaholic". After being infected by the tuna bug, I soon realized that, besides bumming rides from friends, the only way I was going to satisfy the urge was to build my own boat.

Thanks again, for helping me realize my goal. This site and ifish are my two internet obsessions.
