Well, even though the venerable carmudgeon redassed me for asking the same question,

I found the parts at Highland Hardware

Ed, You can still get some replacement tips for Yankee and Stanley Screwdrivers from Stanley. Do a search for Stanley Tools, look for hand tools, and look for replacement parts.

Much better than the standard yankee bits are the aftermarket ones that are designed to hold standard hex driver bits---I think I saw them in all three yankee sizes, from McFeeleys. Good luck!

In father in law's stuff there were several yankees with drill bits. They have straight flutes, no spiral. Just the ticket for zero clearance drilling, when even the egg beater won't do, or one handed drilling.

There's also an old time, yankee-type driver with a single spiral, in a sleeve and a two-piece wooden handle. The bearing surface between the two parts doesn't work real well but it's apparently made to facilitate the return stroke without the blade turning. Or maybe not. Anyone seen anything like that ?
