"T" trim for floor boards

Good Morni'n Crew!! I'm restoring a 1948 Higgins runabout and am looking for a source of a "T" shaped metal (aluminum or stainless)edge trim to be applied around the perimiter of the lift-out access panels. In years gone by, this used to be known as "trap door metal". The approx. size needed would be about .75" across the top and about .6" tall. Typically these are nailed or screwed through the verticle leg into the side of the acess panel stock.
Macklanburg-Duncan Co. makes such an animal for use in the flooring world but is very low demand and local flooring wholsale houses will only order it in minimum quantities of 12,12'sticks. I only need 36' of the stuff.
Does anyone know of another source that will ship a broken lot or of a similar product that will do this job. I've looked in most of the chandleries that I know about (6 or 7). Thought about ceiling tile t-bar, too flimsey and wrong dimensions.

Aluminum is extruded in a "T" section. I have no clue what the standard sizes are, but you could cut it to fit easily enough. Find an aluminum fabrication shop. McMaster-Carr might have it in their catalog. Or www.smallparts.com. (http://www.smallparts.com.) An aluminum I-beam will yield two "T" sections if you cut it lengthwise. As a last resort, it's sold in 3' lengths by climbing shops to use as snow stakes.

A possible source would be the trim used in old pickup trucks that have wood beds. Try looking in a restoration catolog for pre 1957 Chevy or Ford trucks.

Why do you want a "T"? Wouldn't 2 inverted "L"'s be better?

If you can use two "L"s they are to be found at Home Depot in various sizes.

Thanks Guys; Since I first posted, I've talked to several other restorers here in the upper midwest and they have occasional need for the same material. So, we are going to order a minimum order from M-D and have it available for resale.
