I have previously used Interlux Brightside for the hull of my 26'MacKenzie Cuttyhunk and was reasonably satisfied with it. The gloss and durability were great, but it always seemed to dry with "sags" even though I thinned it with 333, used a quality brush to apply it in thin coats and tipped it off with a foam brush. This spring I took a chance and applied two coats of Interlux TopLac and the results are excellent, using the same techniques as before. I have not been able to find anything on the Internet about TopLac, particularly in terms of how it compares to Brightside. Has anyone used it?

Yup its damn good stuff, I tried it on a 20ft and thirty foot boat last year on th instructions of the owner. If I still had enough hair to make it worthwhile dragging a brush over I reckon I could have used the finish on both hulls as makeshift mirrors.
For the cost I still havn't found anything brush applied to beat it.

regards

Shuggie.

OK, I see Hamilton Marine sells it, but can you tell us what type base it is? The "lac" in the name might hint at a lacquer base (but since Petit Easypoxy has nothing to do with epoxy....;) Is it an oil base paint, lacquer, erwot?

The can says Toplac is a silicone copolymer. It is a one part product that is thinned with Interlux 333. Dry time was about 2-3 hours to touch and 24 hours to sand and recoat. I was hoping someone could provide a comparison to Brightside in terms of durability. I'd like to think I can get at least two seasons out of it.
