I'm wondering if anyone has found a replacement for Interlux's #244 sanding surfacer white? They stopped making it and I haven't found a good double. It was great for fast build of white undercoat , then a quick sand and finish off with enamel. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Yes.
I use a good household undercoat, Premaglaze, which is thixotropic, i.e. like cottage cheese in the tin, covers and builds very well and sands like a dream. Much less expensive too.

Pettit makes a one-part white sanding surfacer, comes in a can. It's comparable to the old Interlux.
3M makes a 1 part acrylic surfaces that comes in a large tube.
I like the Pettit product better. It's smoother to apply and shrinks less.

Z-Spar Hi-Build primer is exactly as they say, very quick build up and an easy sand. I did put a coat of Interlux primer over it and then finished off with Interlux Brightsides. Sprayed on, it finished up extremely smooth.

Joel,
How'd y'all apply that? Brushed? Rolled and tipped? I have a can of the Petitt and is it ever thick.
