Has anyone found an inexpensive way of importing boatcare chemicals from the US,preferably to Europe? I'm having great problems trying to import stains etc.

I tried this with CPES and the cost was horrendous. With CPES, it was to do with US transportation of chemicals and the special carrier restrictions - I guess this will be the same for stains / paints. In the end I bought from a Swedish guy, who was buying in bulk, but it still cost more in carriage from Sweden to here than the product itself cost. Obvious question, have you checked out whether there is a UK / EU distributor?
If you want to buy a lot and be an importer - and are looking for carrier contacts, try Mail Brokers International on 01753 814015 - we've used them for international work in the past and they've been helpful - but they probably won't deal with a one off small delivery.
BTW what do they have over there that we don't have here? (except CPES of course, though that is debatable according to SP Systems)
Best regards
Paul

I've had the same problem with the CPES. Might I ask who the Swedish guy is, and what he charged for the CPES and delivery?
I'm starting to restore a US made mahogany runabout and wanted to get some of the correct stains and paints and fillers which are known to work well. I'm sure that there are equivalent products over here, but I simply don't know what they are, and the boat will take so much effort and time that I don't want to be experimenting with stains and paints and varnishes which may or not be suitable.

John,
I've sent a private message with details of the Swedish importer. Let me know if it doesn't get to you.
If anybody else wants this information, I'm happy to forward.
