Anyone have experience with the wooden yacht blocks made by A. Dauphinee & Sons in Luneburg? Their prices lok reaswonable, but how about quality, finish?

I haven't seen any Dauphinee blocks made recently, but they used to be close to the best available. Lignum Vitae shells, bronze straps and sheaves, and very nicely finished off. I have some on my mainsheet and they have served many years. Unless their quality control has deteriorated, which I doubt, they ought to be a good buy.

I can, without hesitation recommend Dauphinee & Son's blocks. I even got the chance a few years back to visit the shop when we brought the Schooner Harvey Gamage to Nova Scotia for her inaugural trip. What a place, he even has a 12 foot belt sander.

Buy from him and you won't be dissappointed.

I can recommend Dauphinee blocks highly. They are hand made using lignun vitae and bronze roller bearings. They performed very well for 15 years on our yawl. They can be completely disassembled, and renewed without special skills. They are reasonably priced, too. You can even call up Mr. Dauphinee and discuss your needs.

Hi, Roger.

I just disassembled the the throat halyard blocks last night. Slight wear on the pin, but in good shape overall. I was going to ask if A. Dauphinee & Sons was still in business. Guess so, eh?

I think we almost had coffee this past weekend... were you and yours in Annapolis on Saturday? Maybe near the Harbor 9 shops? I think it was me who reacted too late to let your driver in the lane of traffic to get onto 2 south.

How's your schedule look? Are you busy tomorrow afternoon / evening?
