I'm looking for some deck planking stock for a traditional laid straight deck.
Finished dimensions are 1-1/2" thick by 3" wide. I need enough to do Carlotta's 50-foot expanse.
Anyone know of where I can find some edge grain stock that has been air dried?
I also need to replace the covering boards. I'm looking for a source for something good and tight and tough for that application.
I'm in BC - Sunshine coast.

You couldn't be any closer to the source and you're still looking? LOL If quarter sawn old growth douglas fir is what you're looking for (and I suppose that's the best choice, short of teak), you should be able to find it up there. Ask around the boatyards and find a local sawyer to put some aside for you.

Hi Bob - I was hoping someone may know of a local sawyer who had some fir that had been drying a while already. I am tentatively planning to replace the deck this coming winter.
A lot of yards/mills I've called are all cleaned out - seems there have been a lot of restorations/repairs this spring.
I'm just looking for any possible leads.

Timberwright, RavenWood, Paul Gartside knows of sawyers and Bob Smalser posted the address of some folks in the Queen Charlottes with a warehouse near Vancouver. Search the Forum.
