Red Lead Paint

I just got a gallon of red lead paint (never opened) given to me.
I'm planning on using it to paint the seams after calking on my Gillnetter.
I was wondering if anyone knew the history of American Marine Paint Company
out of San Francisco. They are the name on this paint can. I only know of the Kirby Paint
Company and they won't send me anything to Alaska. I'm assuming that The American
Co. no longer exist but if they did it might be another good source for boat application
type paints etc.
