Pretty...but I wouldn't buy one with the idea of using it much.

Combo planes were and are always cranky because there's little or no support in front of the throat. They are no substitute for a rabbet plane.

Add to that the fact that you need absolutely straight-grained, knot-free wood for them to work at all, and they still have their uses today duplicating moldings on a small scale for antique restorations, but they have little practical use in the manner intended by the maker.

I do like them to rout beads along the edge of face stock, tho.
