Hey everyone...I am in dire need of a parts house who can supply me with parts for my Chrysler Marine Hemi motors. Raw water pump rebuild kits, thermostats, exhaust manifolds, etc. The motors in my 1959 Stephens need some TLC to keep them strong runners. Any help rendered wil be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Tim

Chrysler Marine Hemi motors Can you define this a little further? Some more specs will help in the search.

Chrysler marinized their early hemi motors beginning in 1954. They built 331, 354, and 391 cu.in. motors. They came in various configurations of carbs. Either twin singles or twin 4 barrels. All I have come across (as well as the two in my boat) are raw water cooled. I am interested in stockpiling some parts to keep mine running. thermostat housing tend to go quick, as well as the raw water pumps. I am also interested in suppliers to buy impellers, gaskets, thermostats, etc. for these motors. They are bulletproof monsters but a bit of a dinosaur as far as readily available parts. The raw water pump is gear driven and the two just cost me $1200 in labor and parts for the rebuilds. I would like to find a couple for spares and rebuild them myself. Also I am looking for exhaust manifolds that are in decent shape for spares or models to have some custom cast. Hope this answers your question.
Oh! My engines are model #M45S3
Cheers

well, I am not sure if this is the type of place you are looking for or not, but try jim's auto (https://www.jimsautoparts.com/store.htm) . I just went through Google, there were lots of related items.
I see that you are in CA. There are car club swap meets all over down there. Maybe start hitting those on a regular basis??

Try these guys (http://b-jmarinemanifolds.com/) . They're a west coast distributor for Osco manifolds and parts...there may be another closer to you, but I couldn't find one. Osco makes a wide range of marine engine manifolds and such.

Thanks boys...
MMD I was thinking of puttin blowers on em and getting the ol displacement hull of mine to PLANE!
LOL Although the type I have, 354 cu.in., are sought out by the hot rodders for this purpose, my goal is to keep them torquey and in my boat! I am a member of all the hemi swaps, and have come across a few good men who have offered me the marinized parts they have stripped...but so far the manifolds and such have been too badly gone to rebuild. Which is why they were probably yanked out of the hold to begin with, eh? I was hoping someone would know of a aftermarket parts source either on the net or a phone contact. Thanks both of you for the quick reply!

Tom White of Woodville (Hopkinton) MA has a number of old hemi autos, and probably has some good contacts. Hmmmm what the heck happened to the phone book... Well he's probably listed. Tell him his noisy neighbor sent you. :)

I gave up rebuilding the old 331's back in 1981. Parts for the old 301-331-354 and 392 have been extremely hard to come by for many many years. Although once popular in drag racing (354 and 392) there has been little demand for these engines since the introduction of the 426 Hemi in 1965. They are not very strong for their weight and horsepower. The M45 was a 331 engine.

Appreciate your reply, however it is not rebuild parts I am worried about finding. There is an abundance of rebuild kits and parts available if need be. Mine are still running very strong. What I am looking for are the parts that make them Marine engines. Exhaust manifolds, thermostat housings, etc. Incidentally, the M45S3, of which two are in my boat, are 354s with twin single barrel carbs. FWIW

Yes, I've actually got 1 in storage...its been there for 11 years. I'm currently assembling a pair of 440cid Chryslers....not the same. Did the hemi come standard in your boat? Mine came out of a 1937 custom cabin cruiser that had its bottom replanked in Cuba in the early 1950's. I figured it was repowered at the same time.
