Ed- I just bought an Audi in Connecticut, but live in Seattle. Why don't you throw that amazing new plane of yours in the trunk and drive it out to show off here in the NW? http://media5.hypernet.com/~dick/ubb/wink.gif

There are still good finds to be had on Ebay, looks like you found one of them Ed. Yesterday on Ebay I stumbled across a large vintage Perko oil running light (stbd.) that was about to close with no bids, so I put in one bid $9.99, & got it.

You done good. This is why I try to stay away from ebay. Too many things that I don't know are out there, and won't be able to live without!

I hit something with my ( lesser ) plane and damaged the roller ( blade holder ) which I had to replace to make things right . You'll know soon .

Not to burst your bubble BUT, the motor hangs down so that you can't plane wide surfaces as with the Skil 100 or the Rockwell/PC 653.
Motor is direct drive which is either a plus or minus.
At least it is still in production so you can get cutters for it easier than for the 653..
It will get you started but I'm thinkin' that you will be lookin' for one of the above before you spile the new garboards.

Umm...at worst you could rig a table for it and you'd have a nice little jointer , but I can Feel your Pain .
The photos are a bit deceptive ,showing the tool floating in space rather than sitting on a flat surface .The first seems especially so . Did they blank out a bit of the motors bottom that would have shown below the bed of the tool ? False Advertiseing !
