I see they stock Joubert marine plywood. Reportedly very nice stuff.

Air dried Alaska yellow cedar, $2.00-$5.00CDN/BF. *SIGH* You could strip build a really nice trailer sailer out of that wood.

Westwind Hardwoods are great people. When I wanted spruce for the mast for Fiona II it was nowhere to be found. They counselled patience, and 4 months later called to say a spruce tree was available and they were just waiting for dimensions. Together with Dave Bradford of Alder Bay Boat Works, an experienced mast builder, we worked out what I needed, they had it sawn to those dimensions, and invited me over to Sidney to pick the pieces I wanted.

The spruce was extremely high quality, and really not particularly expensive. I recall I paid $1300 CDN in 1997 for sufficient wood to make a 50' mast, and then some. It took me 5 years to get the mast made, but when we were finished there was almost NO waste lovely clear stock.

We still have quite a bit left over, which we hauled to Montana in 25' lengths and plan to make birdsmouth spars for Fiona III which is now definitely going to be Amigo.

Its good knowing someone really cares, and I would recommend them to anyone in the vicinity, or at least within trucking distance.

Ex-O, I looked at Westwind's website a while back as a possible source for when I finally get going on Amigo. Thanks for the testimonial.

Looks like I have to cut down some really nice #1 douglas fir trees, before my neighbor gets to have them on his head. I will have a couple thousand spare ft, custom cut to whatever the buyer wants, band sawn to a good finish. The sawyer says you could not buy this stuff except special order, anybody interested out there??? Some boards to 24in or over, and 20+ long.
I'm thinking about $2.00 board ft. and shipping.
