I recently saw a really neat two piece motor mount designed for small outboards. I would like to find one for my 2hp Honda. Any ideas where I might find one? Feel free to email me off line at david.thomasson@state.tn.us
Thanks, Dave

Well, a new bronze one is available from Spartan Marine for about $300. Ouch! I was hoping for a used one. They are really slick.

Better description, perhaps? Where did it mount? Was it something that was also designed for canoes? Stern mount? Side deck? There are a lot of mounts out there. Need more input.
While I was futzing around answering, Ya'll gave me a clue to the bracket. One like this? What kind of boat is it going on?

I got mine from Bristol Bronze before I learned that Spartan makes the same thing and Hamilton Marine will probably give you a better price than either Spartan or Bristol Bronze.
BUT! What boat is it going on? The rascal is hell for stout alright. Rock solid for sure. Translation: Heavy! It probably weights more than your Honda motor. Big too. Translation: Difficult to stow on a small boat.
If you're still interested, I'll measure and weigh mine.

Yes sir, that is the design. I don't think the one that I saw was as large and heavy as what you described though. It was carrying a 3hp Johnson on a 20ft. sharpie with a round stern, and it seemed in proportion, although I didn't lift it. I watched as the captain installed it and I didn't observe that he was strained. I want to install one on an 18ft., round sterned sharpie.

DaveNo, a good friend bought one for his day sailer. Was present the day it showed up - was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the materials and workmanship.
He has not mounted it yet, so I can't say much about functionality, though...

The flat base on the thing is 8in. wide. Suppose there is any issue with that fitting properly on a round sterned hull? I guess I could just shim the two bolts and bring the base slightly away from the hull.

Let's just say you know you've got something in your hand when you pick it up. It's the only thing I found that worked on my Caledonia yawl without cutting holes in the boat so I don't mind the size or weight.
I'll grab it and throw it on the scales tonight. I'm guessing-20 to 30 pounds. That's a LOT of bronze. Think of it as your 3rd emergency only back up anchor. It's sized for motors up to 10 hp if that gives you an idea of it's heft.
The base plate can me mounted most any way you need. A nice teak block on deck wuld be sharp. The other nice thing is that the base plate is the only thing showing when you don't need the motor.

Yep, the design is the same, but yours is larger than what I want. The ones that I've seen are identical in design, but are only rated to 4hp...I'm pretty sure. (I'd love to see your boat...they are impressive!).

Here I am talking about the model that Ross was talking about, from Edson.

OK, my arm isn't quite as well calibrated as I thought. 13 pounds with a 1+ inch of mahogany plywood for the motor to clamp on. The fixed base adds a few ounces. The drop is about 3" below the deck.
If there is something smaller or lighter I didn't find it. I put a 2 hp Suzuki on it.
Some day I'll document all of this stuff. I really will. Promise.

Follow up: I can't find a picture of the whole thing in action. I did find a picture of a Haven 12 1/2 showing the base mounted on deck.
