My Japanese slick is an incredibly handy tool. It's a little smaller than a traditional boatbuilders slick but probably more versatile. And wow, does it hold an edge! Look at any of the places that sell Japanese chisels and such. JapanWoodworker is one. For a regular slick have you looked at Lee Valley and Garret Wade?

http://www.toolsrules.com/MISC-TOOLS.htm

They have two slicks posted on the bottom quarter of the page.
Don't know anything about the company. Happened to find it while surfing.

Dave;
If I may jump in.On E-Bay try looking in Collectables-Furnishings+Tools-Tools-Woodworking.If there are any slicks they should be in there.I managed to pick up a nice Greenlee there last year for a reasonable price.All the way from Washington State to Nova Scotia.
Good luck;
Earl

Reddog and y'all wil hate me when I tell you that I picked up 2-1/8" slick at a flea market ten years ago with another 1-1/2 chisel, both for three bucks. All excited, I began resanding the steel face and socket before hollow grinding, and there on the socket face did "Greenlee" appear. Hit with a pc of steel it gives a high-pitched ring telling all I needed about its heat treatment. Put an ash handle n slam ring on, and its still my favorite chisel. - JB

I too have no need for another slick just mailed one off to one of the Forum members yesterday.
But like to peruse the Ebay lists to see what things are going for these days.
Dave, proud owner and former user of a DR Barton, L&IJ White and James Swan, trio of slicks.

John;
Naw,we won't hate you for scoring a good deal as long as you use the tools and arn't just collecting them.I have yet to find a slick at a local flea market so resorted to plunking down the cash.
Dave,that is an enviable list of edge tool makers you have there.They all command a respectable price from the dealers of used tools.Some day I may have a Barton,but the Greenlee came honed to an edge and cuts like a dream.Good control.
All the best;
Earl

Speaking of slicks, how 'bout a little commentary on hollow grinding vs. straight bevel? About 45 years ago I bought a hand-forged, curved-back 3" Greenlee socket slick for $8 at a used tool shop in Oakland, CA. It had a straight bevel which I've maintained. I made a nice small slick by putting a longer handle on a 2" Greenlee socket chisel.
