We have decided....to go with the trad stuff and use Hayward's Clipper Canvas for the sails on our schooner! We serached the www high and low for information on this material and just before decision time, the sales and marketing manager from Haywards contacted us! John Stimpson did a wonderful job in allaying our fears and concerns with some very good information and testimonies (the famous Christiania for example, after some 20 months underwater, washed off her Clipper Canvas sails and now uses them!). Mr Stimpson is also providing assistance to our sailmaker to ensure our sails are well built. All up we are most satisfied with the product and the service from the company. The amount of yachts using Clipper Canvas here in Australia may well be counted on one hand so it's all a new game here! We expect delivery of the sails sometime in December when we push the yacht out of the shed. Stay posted!! smile.gif

Have watched the development of the decision making process on your sails with interest. The contribution from Todd Bradshaw in particular was extrordinary!
Now that you have made the leap we, surely along with others, will be very interested in the outcome. Our particular requirement is a way off, is coastal and not as complex but with same criteria of trad look with decent performance and longevity.
Keep us posted!

It certainly has been a hugh decision for us given the cost involved and then the expectation that the sails will perform and last many years...but we are happy with our decision. If you speak with the sales and marketing manager John Stimpson you will be doing yourself a favour!! Of course they have the Sunwing Classic which looks trad and maybe just what you are looking for?!
