I just needed some small lots (much less than a box) of round head bronze machine screws (10/24 and 1/4 inch). Ordered them from Bolt Depot (boltdepot.com). Cost of order was $30, shipping about $7. As I can't buy bronze fastners locally, and as I would never use a full box of these particular items, it seemed a good way to go. Anyone on the list used Bolt Depot or have a different site to order small lots from?

Their prices seem very high. A box of 100 bronze 10/24 X 1 1/4" RH machine screws from Bolt Depot is $37.80. A box from Jamestown is $9.92.

The catalog price for a box of 10/24 by 1 1/2" bronze round head mach screws is $30.72 Problem is, Jamestown sells by the box as I recall.

I have purchased odd # of bolts & screws from Jamestown many times; they sell by the individual piece. Rick

William Clements was nice enough to sell me some small lots (10-15 screws) and he charged only a nominal fee for shipping.

This is exactly the beauty of the Wooden boat forum. By the way, I also ordered bronze strap and rod from Atlas Metal, another outfit I learned about on the Forum.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Jamestown USED TO sell by the piece. No more.

Actually Jamestown does seem to sell small lots, depending on the size you want. For example, they sell single bronze hex bolts 3/8 diameter, etc. At least that's how their web site is set up.

The Jamestown website and catalog do not reflect their changed policy regarding small numbers of fasteners. And don't waste your breath trying to argue that one with them on the phone.

They will still fill specific-count orders of higher priced fasteners, but the rest are sold by specific batches. For example, they recently sold me less than a full box of 1/4-20 x 2" bronze screws, but would not sell less than a box of 1/4-20 nuts.

Believe me, if the guys in the warehouse have anything to say about it, the next catalog will include accurate information about minimum order quantities.
