Matt Walsh, west coast boat builder and racing skipper used a similar product known as Rising Sun Stove Polish. He finished the bottom of a US Navy eight oared gig with it back in 1920 and beat the English Royal Navy Crew over a course of several miles in San Diego CA and won a load of gold bullion for the US.
