Have finally decided to take my 1948 CW bilge pump apart......Extremely corroded.....
In order that I don't totally destroy it in the process....what degreaser...for lack of a better term...should I use to get the parts apart....
It's a good looking bilge pump...and another formite has given me the plans....so once apart, I think I can replace those I need to.

I think "penetrator" is the term you're searching for.

"PB Blaster". There is no substitute.

nope. The Friendly Folks at West won't be able to help you.

some auto parts places carry it. Some mom&pop hardware places carry it. It's one of those strange hit-or-miss things.

maybe a dollar more than an equal size can of liquid wrench or WD40.

March is the time of year to get generic ether CHEAP at Wal-Mart or wherever.

* Starts boats, tractors, lawnmowers, etc.

* Puts noisome wasps in boats or on house to sleep-- permanently.

* Volatile, penetrating, and generally non-staining--- but keep AWAY from flame...

Buy a one dollar dishpan and soak it in kerosene mixed with a little oil.

believe me Paul...it's gonna be very interesting....
But it is such a neat piece of bronze....
and I don't have to go below to see if it will work...once I'm done...
